As of late spring, a new phase of the project will be underway with the opening of a modernized section of the bypass, including a new tunnel. The latter will separate traffic flows between vehicles on the motorway and those remaining on the ring road, improving traffic flow in the long term.
September 2025: inauguration of a pedestrian-cycle bridge
In September 2025, a new pedestrian and cycling bridge will be inaugurated. Crossing the A480, it will provide a smooth mobility alternative to connect both sides of the highway, enhancing safety and comfort for users.
Fall 2025: completion of the plateau and landscaping
The project also includes the creation of a large plateau linking Grenoble to Échirolles, which will cover the new tunnel. This area will be enhanced with landscaping, pedestrian and bike paths, as well as new public transit stops. This work will better connect the Technisud neighbourhood to Échirolles, while offering a new gateway to the metropolis.
February 2026: work is finished and trees are planted
By February 2026, the planting of the 150 trees planned will mark the end of this phase of the project, bringing a final touch to this vast project.
Sustainable benefits for all
While the disruptions associated with the works will require temporary adaptation, the long-term benefits will be significant: smoother traffic, modernized infrastructure and improved quality of life for residents and users.
