Coach
Since 01 October 2002, the General Council of the Isère, the Department's public-transit authority, has unified its transit system and set up the Transisère system.
To do so, it has implemented :
- A single area pricing for all Isère residents;
- A new visual identity for all system players;
- A territory-wide dealer network;
- A more efficient transit offer.
The system, distinguished by the blue-and-yellow of all of its coaches, includes dozens of carriers, all of whom are under contract with the Department. These carriers are tasked with operating one or more lines entrusted to them, and offer Isère residents and efficient transit service.
Year after year, the system has continued to expand, while the network through the territory and the performance of the services provided have been increasing.
Thus, with the Grenoble and Villefontaine bus stations as its hubs, the system has implemented high-service or "express" routes. For example, besides its significant frequency for an intercity route (one bus every 5 minutes during the morning peak period at the Voiron departure point), the Grenoble-Voiron-Crolles Express route is undergoing a quality certification.
The General Council carries out system-improvement measures, both on the rolling stock and on the infrastructure. Thus it was that, on 03 September last, a bus lane was inaugurated on the A48 motorway, on the St Egrève - Pont d'Oxford stretch. This special lane allows coaches to run at a good speed even when bottlenecks slow motorists down.
Always seeking to be closer to its residents, the Department has decided to offer them a single contact, creating Transisère Services, an administrator for system-related services, which is responsible for, among other tasks, customer relations (Allo Transisère, complaints management, etc.).
Future plans call for focusing efforts on strengthening the intermodality and complementarity of the various modes of transportation, to provide a travel policy in line with Agenda 21.
Key Transisère figures:
- 800 vehicles5835 stops served each day
- 494 local service routes
- 89 departmental routes
- 14 suburban Routes
- 5 EXPRESS routes
- €145-million budget in 2008
